Music To My PC exists for one reason: most home recording advice online assumes you already own an interface, a treated room, and a few years of experience. We start earlier than that. This site walks through the actual first decisions, what to buy, how to set it up, and what to ignore, for someone recording in a bedroom, a spare office, or a rented apartment.
What we cover
Six areas make up the site: home recording fundamentals, music production for beginners, digital audio workstations, Windows audio setup, audio interfaces, and microphones. Each one is written to answer the questions people actually type into Google at 11pm after their third failed recording attempt.
Our approach
We test recommendations against gear that costs what a beginner can actually spend, usually under $300 for a full starter rig. We explain the reasoning behind a setting, not just the click-by-click steps, so the advice still works when your gear changes. And we're honest about limitations: a $60 microphone won't sound like a $600 one, and no plugin fixes a bad room by itself.
What we won't do
We never link to pirated software, plugins, or sample packs, explain how to bypass copy protection, or invent testing experiences we didn't actually run. If a piece of gear disappoints us, we'll say so.
